Simple Christian Community

Hi All,
I am just wondering WHY we need 4 different forums with the same members to talk about the same issues. Not wanting control, it's just I don't know about you guys but I don't have time for ONE forum let alone 3 or 4.

Just my thoughts.

Blessings,
Jeanne

Hey Jeanne-
Your question is fair. The only reason I started a separate website is that I am emphasizing the missional aspect. I started weeks ago, bringing up my questions on existing websites and decided not to hijack someone else's board with my cause, so to speak. (Not that anyone in SC would do that!)

I found that the words "endorse" "ordain" "lead" "credential" "certify" brought up all kinds of horror stories from past movements that failed in power grabs. So, the only way I could fairly discuss the model I proposed was to show the model. Well, here it is. Now we can interact with it and see if it becomes a useful support for those taking ministry outside the house.

Thanks for your blessings!
Nik

Hm. Good Answer, Nik. I was unaware of sites other than this and healing communities, of which I've not set myself up yet. Your consise answer also sheds light on the precision-type questions/headers I've seen. So, all that to say, I find no fault with 'narrowed focus' for a particular site functioning in conjuntion and/or beside other SC sites designed to develop community.

Can it be time consuming? Yes, of course. Is it worth it? Each member must decide for himself/herself. :)

Hi Nik,
I know that some of the issues you want to discuss bring up issues with many but for me it's not "horror stories of past movements" but what the Word says about leadership. I think there is just as much place for it on Healing Communities as any place else.

That said, for me its a TIME issue. I have joined several other forums for friendship as Rick said but I am working, ministering and going to school 5 hours every day to learn this crazy language so I just can't do it. Not enough hours in the day for me.

Just my thoughts. I am open to correction and don't want to stop anyone from discussing issues that are uttermost to them.

Blessings,
Jeanne

Thank you Jeanne,
I hope you know that I appeciate any time that folks take to participate. I'll probably be linking or asking to borrow pieces from you to copy over here. I am not obligating you to an extra community; but, of course, you are always welcome!

There are quite a few who have joined Healing Communities who are not interested in mission discussion right now. And, I am spreading the word along new venues. So, there won't be too much of an overlap soon.

I'm tired and kinda rambling, but I hope you hear the deep respect that I have for you and the work you have put into your website. Thank you for saying there would be a place for this on Healing Communities, that means a lot to me. I tried setting it up as a stand alone community because that gives more chance for folks to hop on and take up ownership as a community. . . it doesn't belong to an existing group.

I am very sorry if I have frustrated you. It sure sounds like I've put an additional challenge on your already full day. I pray that this all works out in God's way.
In Christ-
nik

Faith, Community, Mission

We may live far apart, but we are a community built in, through, and with the indwelling Christ. Our worship is a sacrifice of time, given to know Him intimately. We each serve, minister, and express our Lord Jesus, who is the only Head. Let us be known simply by our love for each other, in anticipation of when every knee will be bent in His Kingdom. And, let us follow the earthly mission Jesus began and passed to His followers to “preach goods news to the poor, proclaim release to the captives, recover sight to the blind, let the oppressed go free, and proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
We are here to support, confront and clarify each other's place as aliens in the world but not of the world. Est: Nov, 2008.
