Well, I found a cup but a cat's in it. Hmm! I wonder if this is one of Claudia's friends.

Hello! Is anybody here? Wow! It sure is quiet. Maybe I'll clean up and then sit down and wait and see if anyone else shows up. I sure wish Rick was here. No one can brew a good pot of tea like he can.

A mysterious awakening

I wasn’t planning to write a third blog on "Dances With Wolves" but, as I was reading, I found a portion that I just had to quote here. It said,

“They spent less than three full days in the temporary camp, and three days is a short time in which to undergo extensive change.

But that’s what happened.

Lieutenant Dunbar’s course in life shifted.

There was

More Dances With Wolves

I recently finished reading Dances With Wolves. Actually, it only took me three days to read the entire book since it was so fascinating. I had originally planned to donate my copy to the school library but I’ve decided to hold on to it since, in my opinion, it’s definitely a journey book that's worth re-reading.

As the story progresses, the change in the ma… Continue

Dances With Wolves

I just started reading "Dances With Wolves". I've never read it before or seen the movie. I've had the book for a while but just now wanted to start it. So far, I'm enjoying it immensely.

There's a quote on the back cover that I found fascinating. It said:… Continue

A season to plant

This life of grace is an exciting life. For years, I struggled as a believer and then a number of years ago, God started to turn my spiritual life upside down. The beginning stages were the most difficult of my life and I honestly thought I’d never make it. However, even in the difficul… Continue

A study of spiritual abuse - "The Crucible"

Recently, I read “The Crucible” for the first time. This play written by Arthur Miller in the early 1950’s is today considered a… Continue

Possibly--though it might be interesting to explore the word "friend". I call it living out the simplicity of the gospel.

I'm starting to see my proper role as "walking alongside" of others. Not sure what to call this--maybe "fellowship" :)

Thank you, Aida. You're right--it's amazing what can go wrong with these bodies, and yet there must be so much right or we wouldn't still be standing! God is good. We know we won't get out of this world alive anyway. Those of us who have more right than wrong with us have tons to be thankful for and we ought to be the servants of others during the healthy times, right?

P.S. Thank you for your kind concern. I gave you an earful, huh?

My daughter keeps bugging me to see an allergist. I hate the thought of being dependent on doctors, so I try very hard at prevention. I have masks, pills, a nasal irrigator, humidifier and steam inhaler. The trick is to integrate them and quit forgetting to wear the mask when needed! :) A friend talked me into buying some homeopathic stuff, too. And tea, which I forget to drink, that boosts the immune system. It's incredible the lengths we must go to, huh?

After the cedar/juniper/elm season, there will be a window of time where I'll suddenly feel 20 years younger. Then we enter the oak season wherein I'll have oak fever and sneezing but not scratchy throat like with cedar. Then pollens, then molds and ragweed. I sometimes have a mental picture of having my sinuses surgically removed...I should just move. :) Hope dies hard with me...my balloon never lands.

Thank you, Aida. Yes, I've got the allergies bad right now. They're giving me flu-like symptoms and a touch of a relapse from my illness of two weeks ago. Somehow I've been able to make it to work. I do have a seminar to attend today, but I may take off work (oh, the luxury!) if possible and just stay home and rest. Wearing a mask outdoors helps, I've got a humidifier going in my office, etc. As I get older, I'm learning how better to prepare for them, but sometimes I let my guard down.

Thank you, Aida. I'm torn between so many forums lately...never thought that would happen. I'm a learner on this forum, having not been in the thick of things. I may seem a little strange to some as I don't buy into the "global warming" completely, but I do buy into the stewardship of the earth (need to eliminate pollution, clean up the environment, and conserve life and greenery) and can't understand why so many Christians think it's unimportant. It's honoring God and loving your neighbor to care for the earth. It is good to see you again. You always bring a smile to my soul.

Faith, Community, Mission

We may live far apart, but we are a community built in, through, and with the indwelling Christ. Our worship is a sacrifice of time, given to know Him intimately. We each serve, minister, and express our Lord Jesus, who is the only Head. Let us be known simply by our love for each other, in anticipation of when every knee will be bent in His Kingdom. And, let us follow the earthly mission Jesus began and passed to His followers to “preach goods news to the poor, proclaim release to the captives, recover sight to the blind, let the oppressed go free, and proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
We are here to support, confront and clarify each other's place as aliens in the world but not of the world. Est: Nov, 2008.
