Wow- Doug, you nailed it for me. That article you posted on the Moravians IS vintage faith. What true example. "Fortunately, in the midst of this tension, Zinzendorf and others were actively engaged in intercessory prayer for the community." That is part of the practice here too.

It really touched me because my family hails from eastern europe and I lean toward Mennonite-Brethren (if I had a denomination.) It combines charisma, peacemaking and simplicity.

I pray that your 5 hours was restful, or you got to sleep on the plane. I looked back at Parousianetworks.org to be more clear about where I stand vis a vis emerging. I wound up excerpting their HC manual (Kingdom, People, River) to start a discussion thread. See my blog on emerging vs. missional too. Some differences are just semantics. Whether “emerging” is post-modern or not, it is clearly still transitional and stuck with contextualizing for the post-moderns. (who are so adamant about pulling up all the roots) I think the excerpts I posted show movement in the right direction at the end: a full rooting in the Kingdom of God. They need to work hard on the “Vintage Faith” section on the homepage because that’s where we need to START. There is interplay of language and culture in which the Christian story teaches us how to relate, and the relationships teach us how to read the story. What is emerging . . . a little pregnant? Either we emerge into God’s Kingdom or we are stuck in post-modernism. We don’t all have equal opinions on Jesus Christ’s divinity. Mormons do not believe in a divinity of Jesus Christ that is rooted in the faith. Elders need to make this clear while falling on their face in humility to the Lord, who is the Head.

Thanks!
I showed Joe your post and his initial response was, "boy that's long," and he went back to the TV. ;) He's wanting to talk more openly with other Christian men about marriage and was a bit disappointed with "The Marriage Bed" chat board. So, I'm checking if there is a way to make a private group for men that I can't see. . . . Will let you know.

Doug-
Please, speak from a male perspective on headship. We had to add the cautions when the men who did speak simply said, "Submit woman. It's biblical; what's your problem with it." As you can tell, we had no balanced male perspectives left!? Eager to hear your words-

Welcome Doug-
That 'headship' thread that I mentioned is in the Chaplain's Office group. Hope you find support, edification & challenge here.

Faith, Community, Mission

We may live far apart, but we are a community built in, through, and with the indwelling Christ. Our worship is a sacrifice of time, given to know Him intimately. We each serve, minister, and express our Lord Jesus, who is the only Head. Let us be known simply by our love for each other, in anticipation of when every knee will be bent in His Kingdom. And, let us follow the earthly mission Jesus began and passed to His followers to “preach goods news to the poor, proclaim release to the captives, recover sight to the blind, let the oppressed go free, and proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
We are here to support, confront and clarify each other's place as aliens in the world but not of the world. Est: Nov, 2008.
